Community Foundation – Anne Anton Koval Memorial Scholarship

Supports adult learners in Central Virginia who are pursuing a career in health care and are in need of financial support.  For the purposes of this scholarship, adult learners are defined as individuals who have completed high school but did not immediately pursue post-secondary education, or individuals who completed high school and earned a post-secondary degree, but have opted to return to school to pursue an alternative course of study.  Eligible applicants must be 21 years of age or older. Applicants judged on: academic performance; commitment to and involvement in extracurricular and community service activities; financial need; and interest in pursuing a post-secondary degree in a health care field.

 

Community Foundation – Amanda Lynn Seeley Memorial Scholarship Fund

Supports qualifying graduates of Prince George, Southampton, Surry and Sussex County public/private high schools and Tidewater Academy.   The recipient of the scholarship will be a well-rounded individual who participates fully in activities in school, his/her faith based community, and his/her local community. Applicants judged on: academic performance; commitment to and involvement in extracurricular and community service activities; financial need; and response to essay question.

 

Community Foundation – Alice Haynie Dameron Scholarship Fund

Supports qualifying high school graduates residing in Northumberland County, Virginia. Scholarship awards are based primarily on financial need and preference will be given to students who are members of First Baptist Church, Heathsville, Macedonia Baptist Church, Heathsville and Shiloh Baptist Church, Burgess. Applicants judged on: academic achievement; financial need; and involvement in the community through public service.

 

State Fair of Virginia – Competition Scholarships

Open to all state residents who want to compete in any State Fair Competition, such as livestock, 4-H, SkillsUSA, etc.  Competitions will be held at the State Fair (late September-early October).  Deadlines vary by type of competition, beginning with Livestock competitions in mid-August.

 

Virginia Association for Pupil Transportation-Southeastern States Pupil Transportation Conference – Buster Bynum Scholarship

The Southeastern States Pupil Transportation Conference (SESPTC), comprised of fourteen member
states (Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina,
Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia) will grant a $2,000
Buster Bynum Education Scholarship. Named in honor of R. A. “Buster” Bynum, retired
Director of the Virginia Department of Education’s pupil transportation office and former
SESPTC treasurer, this one-time $2,000 education scholarship is made available to one deserving
public school student in each of the fourteen-member southeastern states.

 

Smithfield Foundation Scholarships

Open to dependent children or grandchildren of current full-time or retired employees of Smithfield Foods.  In order to be awarded a scholarship you must be accepted by one of the schools listed.  You must first apply and be accepted to be awarded a Smithfield Foundation scholarship.

 

Richmond Paralegal Association – Jean Proffitt and Susan Brewer, Esq. Scholarship Fund

Open to students who are attending a paralegal program at an approved school in the Richmond metro area, on a part-time or full-time basis, and have completed the equivalent of 9 semester hours in the program. Applicants who have completed at least 12 semester hours will be given higher consideration.

 

Richmond Elks Lodge #45 – Legacy Awards

Open to children and grandchildren of Elk members who are high school seniors, going on to an accredited college or university in the U.S., and exhibit the core values of the Elks National Foundation.  Must take the SAT test by year end, and apply online.

 

Richmond Elks Lodge #45 – “Most Valuable Student” Scholarship Program

Open to any U.S. high school senior (relation to Elks member not necessary).  500 awards will be made nationally to graduating seniors this year.  Eight MVS scholarships will be awarded to residents of Virginia.  Applicants will be judged on scholarship, leadership, and financial need

 

National Ice Cream Retailers Association – Bryce Thompson Scholarship

The National Ice Cream Retailers Association (NICRA) annually sponsors the Bryce Thomson Scholarship Award for full-time or part-time employees of Active members. The Board of Directors of NICRA established the award in 1995, honoring Bryce Thomson, a man whose 55-plus years of commitment to the ice cream industry is unparalleled.

This year, $40,000 will be awarded to applicants who are employees of member stores.
