Communication Disorders Foundation of Virginia (CDF) Graduate Student Scholarships

The CDF is offering two graduate student scholarships; the CDF Scholarship in the amount of $3,000 and the David H. Narburgh Scholarship in the amount of $1,500.  These scholarships recognize students who have demonstrated outstanding clinical potential.  These awards will be granted to current or rising master’s degree students in Speech-Language Pathology or Audiology who are enrolled in one of the following universities in Virginia:  Hampton University, James Madison University, Longwood University, Old Dominion University, Radford University, or the University of Virginia.  See link for application and further requirements.

 

Henrico Federal Credit Union (Continuing Studies Scholarship)

Will be awarded to an area student of any age who is planning to continue their formal education.  Applicants must be a member of the Henrico FCU or the child of a Henrico FCU member.  Applicants may apply for this scholarship more than once but cannot win in consecutive years.

 

American Water Works Association – Virginia Water Environment Association – Ray A. Jackson Scholarship

Available to a full time undergraduate student member of AWWA attending school in Virginia currently and in the Fall semester, with a career goal of serving in the water industry.  Requirements include:  a resume highlighting your academic and extracurricular performance and activities, an unofficial or official transcript or official semester schedule of school currently attending, and a completed application.. One must be a member of the American Water Works Association and supply one of the following:  A reference letter from an instructor or professor or a one-page essay on a water topic of your choice.

 

BayPort Credit Union – Directors Scholarship

Must be a full time undergraduate or graduate student who is currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, trade or vocational school and a member of the credit union.  Six one-time awards of $1,500 each are available.  The money will be paid directly to the college or university.  Applicants must write an essay on “Why I need the funds” and provide a copy of their current transcripts. 

 

The Associated General Contractors of Virginia (AGCVA) Scholarship

Applicant must be currently enrolled in a four year college or university and planning a career in construction and pursuing a BS degree in construction or civil engineering.  Applicant must be a full time resident of Virginia.

 

American Water Works Association – Virginia Water Environment Association – Graduate Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded annually by VWEA to a full or part time graduate student who is a member of VWEA and attending school in Virginia currently and in the upcoming Fall semester.  Judging of the applicants is performed by the VWEA Student Activities Committee and based on merit.  Requirements include a one-page resume indicating academic and extracurricular performance and activities, and either a reference letter from an instructor or professor or a one-page essay on a wastewater topic of your choice.  One must supply an up-to-date transcript or official semester schedule of school currently attending and a completed VWEA Student Scholarship application.

 

Virginia Water Environment Association – Student Design Competition

Open to all undergraduate and graduate students attending a Virginia university.  Annually the Student Design Committee devises a competition problem that is distributed to the student team several months in advance, and will include environmental topics such as sewer design, wastewater treatment plant expansion, biological treatment, reuse, constructed wetlands, or sustainability efforts.  The winning team, among the winning scholarship, has the opportunity to present their project at the National Student Design the following fall.

 

Virginia Educators Credit Union Clarence E. McKoy Memorial Scholarship

The Clarence E. McKoy Memorial Scholarship is limited to students enrolled in a four-year program. Each applicants must:

• Be a member of Virginia Educators Credit Union (VECU) who has not previously been awarded a scholarship from VECU.

• Be a full-time student at a post-secondary institution.

• Have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher and submit an essay along with a sealed copy of your most recent college transcript.

 

 

Virginia Society of CPAs Educational Foundation – Yount, Hyde & Barbour Annual Scholarship

Awarded to a junior or senior accounting major currently enrolled in an accredited Virginia college or university who has demonstrated academic excellence, financial need, and is pursuing a career in public accounting.  Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and intending to take the CPA Exam.

 

Virginia Society of CPAs Educational Foundation – Wall, Einhorn & Chernitzer Annual Scholarship

Awarded to a junior or senior accounting major who has demonstrated academic excellence, financial need, and is pursuing a career in public accounting.  Applicant must demonstrate a minimum GPA of 3.0 and intending to take the CPA Exam.

 

Virginia Society of CPAs Educational Foundation – Undergraduate Scholarship

Open to undergraduate students currently enrolled in an accredited Virginia college or university who demonstrate academic excellence and financial need.  Must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting, and have GPA of at least 3.0.  Applicant must have completed at least three (3) hours of accounting and be currently registered for at least three (3) more accounting credit hours .

 

Virginia Society of CPAs Educational Foundation – Thomas M. Berry Jr. Annual Scholarship

Awarded to a student who has demonstrated academic excellence, financial need and exemplary leadership skills. Applicant must be currently enrolled in an accredited Virginia college or university undergraduate or graduate program with the intent to pursue a degree in accounting  and must have completed at least three (3) hours of accounting and be currently registered for at least three (3) more accounting credit hours.

 

Virginia Society of CPAs Educational Foundation – Minority Scholarship

Open to students currently enrolled in an accredited Virginia college or university undergraduate accounting program who demonstrate academic excellence and financial need.  Applicant must be a member of one of the following race/ethnic groups: American Indian or Alaskan Native, Asian, Black or African American, Hispanic or Latino, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander or other minority group. Must have GPA of at least 3.0, must have completed at least 3 hours of accounting credits and be enrolled for at least 3 more hours of accounting.

 

Virginia Society of CPAs Educational Foundation – Goodman & Company Annual Scholarship

Awarded to a junior or senior accounting major currently enrolled in an accredited Virginia college or university who has demonstrated academic excellence, financial need, and is pursuing a career in public accounting.  Applicant must demonstrate a minimum overall and accounting GPA of 3.0, and intend to take the CPA exam.

 

Virginia Foundation for Independent Colleges – Norfolk Southern Scholarship

 This scholarship will be awarded to 3 scholars who are current full time 1st semester Juniors at a VFIC institution.  Applicants must also be U.S. citizens and have a minimum 3.0 cummulative GPA exhibiting leadership skills.

 

Virginia Federation of Garden Clubs Scholarships

Open to college students that are majoring in horticulture and related fields.  The Thelma W. Utt, Rita M. Costello, and Peg Grinus Scholarships are offered to students at any Virginia college.  The Minna D. Adams and The President’s Horticulture Scholarships are awarded to students of Virginia Tech.

 

Virginia Council of Teachers of Math Scholarship (Edward A. Anderson, Scholarship Program)

For Virginia residents who are full-time students at a Virginia college or university graduating in FALL 2013, SPRING 2014, or SUMMER 2014 and enrolled in a degree-seeking program with a concentration or a major in mathematics and plan to teach mathematics in a Virginia school.

 

Virginia Society of Landscape Designers

Open to Virginia residents who are college students interested in pursuing a career in landscape design.  Must have cumulative GPA of 3.0, and be currently enrolled in a curriculum which includes landscape design courses.  Financial need may be a determining factor in the final decision.  

 

Virginia State Feed Association Scholarship

Open to rising undergraduate college juniors or seniors majoring in any field of agriculture at an accredited university of choice. Must have 2.5 overall GPA and 2.75 GPA in field of major; demonstrated financial need; show evidence of leadership in extracurricular activities; and show desire to pursue a career to serve the Virginia Feed Industry through written essay.

 

Virginia Transportation Construction Alliance – Transportation Engineering Scholarship

Open to freshman, sophomore or junior young men and women pursuing a degree in an undergraduate engineering/technical curriculum in a Commonwealth of Virginia four-year institution.  Two scholarships offered in the amount of $2,000.

 

Virginia Transportation Construction Alliance – Aggregate Scholarship

Open to freshman, sophomore or junior young men and women pursuing a degree in one of the following areas:  Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Geology or Mining and Mineral Engineering in a Commonwealth of Virginia four-year institution.

 

Virginia Space Grant Consortium – Undergraduate STEM Research Scholarship Program

For undergraduate students enrolled in a Virginia Space Grant university pursuing any field of study with aerospace relevance and actively engaged in a research project.

 

Virginia Space Grant Consortium – Community College STEM Scholarship

Open to students enrolled full time (min. 12 credit hours) at one of Virginia’s community colleges majoring in a science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) field and interested in pursuing a career that supports NASA’s mission. Applicants must have a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

 

Virginia Press Women – Agnes Cooke Scholarship

Open to any Virginia college student or to any Virginia resident attending an out-of-state college. Applicants must be pursuing a career in journalism, photojournalism, public relations or another related communications field.

 

Richmond Paralegal Association – Jean Proffitt Scholarship Fund

Open to students who are attending a paralegal program at an approved school in the Richmond metro area, on a part-time or full-time basis, and have completed the equivalent of 9 semester hours in the program. Applicants who have completed at least 12 semester hours will be given higher consideration.

 

National Garden Club South Atlantic Region – Corrie Whitlock Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to a college sophomore or junior for use during the junior or senior year of college and majoring in the study of Horticulture, Floriculture, Landscape Design, Botany, Plant Pathology, Biology, Forestry, Agronomy, Environmental Concerns, City Planning, Land Management and/or allied subjects.

 

Dominion Resources – Diversity Scholarship

Open to students currently enrolled/registered full-time in an accredited four-year college or university in a field of study that is mutually beneficial to Dominion and the student.  Must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 and agree to a 10-12 week summer intership.

 

Bailey Family Foundation – College Scholarship

Open to students who have demonstrated scholastic achievement and financial need. Applicants must have GPA of 2.5, demonstrate financial need, be a U.S. resident, be enrolled or accepted to one of the participating schools listed on the application, and be pursuing an undergraduate degree.

 

Ashland Strawberry Faire – Dick Gillis Memorial Scholarship

Open to any student at Randolph-Macon College majoring in Political Science.

 

American Association of Candy Technologists – John Kitt Memorial Scholarship

Applicant must be attending an accredited 4-year college in North America, majoring in food science, chemical science, biological science or related field, and have a demonstrated interest in confectionary technology.

 

The Episcopal Diocese of Southern Virginia – Ridley Foundation Scholarship

The student must be a communicant of the Diocese of Southern Virginia or resident of the Diocese of Southern Virginia or a dependent of an employee of the Diocese or any of its churches. The student must have a “C” or 2.0 average for the previous semester.  The student must have a financial need.  Please see the link for more details and requirements.

 

Construction Specifications Institute, Richmond Chapter – Norman Jacobs Scholarship

Open to full-time students majoring in architecture, a construction-related field of engineering, or building construction, in an accredited Virginia college or university program.

 

Colonial Agricultural Educational Foundation – Henricopolis Soil & Water Conservation District (college)

Open to Henrico County residents majoring in a conservation-related field.  Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and a faculty recommendation.
