Good Neighbor Pharmacy Scholarships

Virginia Good Neighbor Pharmacies, independent pharmacies throughout the state, are awarding scholarships to local graduating seniors.  There are eight participating Good Neighbor Pharmacies in Richmond and vicinity including:  Clinic Westbury Apothecary, Westbury Pharmacy, Westwood Pharmacy; in Mechanicsville, Colonial Pharmacy, Lee Davis Pharmacy and Mechanicsville Drug Store; Goochland Pharmacy in Goochland and Stuarts Draft Family Pharmacy in Stuarts Draft.  Applicants must complete the application form that is available at the pharmacy, provide a transcript, brief essay, list of activities, and a letter of recommendation, as stated on the application.

 

Virginia Water Environment Association – Ray A. Jackson Scholarship

Available to a full time undergraduate student member of AWWA attending school in Virginia currently and in the Fall semester, with a career goal of serving in the water industry.  Requirements include:  a resume highlighting your academic and extracurricular performance and activities, an unofficial or official transcript or official semester schedule of school currently attending, and a completed application.. One must be a member of the American Water Works Association and supply one of the following:  A reference letter from an instructor or professor or a one-page essay on a water topic of your choice.

 

Virginia Educators Credit Union – W. Phil Wynn Memorial Scholarship

Each applicant must be a member of Virginia Educators Credit Union who has not previously been awarded a scholarship from VECU.

Be a graduating high school senior.

Have a cumulative GPA of  3.0 or higher.

Submit an essay and sealed copy of your most recent high school transcript.

 

Union Branch Baptist Church M.O.M. Scholarship

Several scholarships available for a graduating senior who attends a public school in Chesterfield County.  The applicant must demonstrate superior scholarship and evidence of commitment to a career in public service.  See high school guidance counselor for application.

 

Southside Virginia Chapter, American Society of Military Comptrollers, Southside Virginia Chapter Scholarship Program

Recognizes graduating seniors.  Applicant must be entering a field of study leading to a baccalaureate degree.  An essay is required, as well as examples of leadership ability, extracurricular activities and two letters of recommendation.  See high school counselor for application.

 

BayPort Credit Union – Directors Scholarship

Must be a full time undergraduate or graduate student who is currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, trade or vocational school and a member of the credit union.  Six one-time awards of $1,500 each are available.  The money will be paid directly to the college or university.  Applicants must write an essay on “Why I need the funds” and provide a copy of their current transcripts. 

 

BayPort Credit Union – Beard/Bennett Memorial Scholarship

Available for BayPort Credit Union members.  Applicants must be high school seniors or home schooled students to qualify.  Essay winners will receive a $6,000 scholarship ($1,500 each year for four years to an accredited college or university, with the stipulation that each recipient must maintain a 3.0 GPA each year to continue receiving the award.)  The money must be used within one year after graduation.  Each applicant must write an essay, which should be at least 500 words, but not more than 650 words.  The topic is “The Year is 2030 and you are on the cover of TIME magazine.  Write the article.”

 

The Virginia Sheriffs’ Scholarship

Applicants must pursue an educational curriculum in criminal justice, however, those majoring in law will not be considered a criminal justice major.  Students must live in a locality where the sheriff is a member of the Virginia Sheriffs’ Institute and has authorized the Institute to conduct fundraising for the scholarship program.  Only students accepted to Virginia colleges and universities will be considered.  A letter of recommendation from the sheriff in the jurisdiction where the student lives is required.  High school or  college transcripts required.  SAT scores for incoming freshmen required.  Essay required.  Two scholarships will be awarded, one to full time students and one to part time students. 

 

Virginia Grain Producers Association (VGPA) Scholarship

Must be a current or future full-time student, as of upcoming Fall, at a Virginia institution of higher education.  Must be closely associated with members of the VGPA, including:  members (or dependents of a member) in good standing or an active employee (or dependent of an active employee), employed at least on year, by a member in good standing of the VGPA.  Transcripts, SAT or ACT results, and personal statement required.
